God, I’m Bored, by Ruth

Posted on November 24, 2023

Lying here on this ottoman,

Spread eagle with my cold snout

Pressed against the glass of the French doors

For hours

The squirrel climbs back up the tree

the redbird darts back and forth to the empty feeder

Again

Entire seasons have changed this afternoon

Spring to Summer, Summer to Winter

It is endless and I deserve to be entertained

Finally the sun is setting.
